Elk Horn with Bark Grips for Pietta 1860 Army, 1861 Navy & 1851 Navy Snub Nose Revolvers
Some materials just don’t need improving—they only need to be shaped with care. These elk horn grips are cut from genuine horn and finished by hand in the old tradition, made to bring a little more character and history to your Pietta revolver, including the 1860 Army, 1861 Navy, and 1851 Navy Snub Nose models.
What makes each set stand out is what nature already gave it. The grain runs deep and uneven in the best possible way, with natural color shifts and markings that can’t be copied or manufactured. A bit of the original bark is left in place, not for decoration, but because it keeps the raw, honest look of the material intact—like something that didn’t lose its edge when it was worked.
No two sets will ever be alike. One might be lighter, another darker, each with its own streaks, textures, and small quirks that come from the animal and the years it spent growing. Those differences aren’t cleaned up or hidden; they’re left as part of the story.
The horn itself is dense and dependable in the hand, giving your revolver a solid, natural feel. With time and use, the surface will mellow and darken into a warm patina that makes the grips feel even more personal, like they’ve been with you for a while.
Each set comes ready to install with escutcheons and screws already fitted, so there’s no extra work needed before mounting them on your revolver. Please note, these grips are not made for Cimarron Thunderer or Lightning models due to different frame sizing.
